You see the post. A brand says it’s giving away a new phone. Or maybe a shopping voucher. All you have to do is like the page, leave a comment, then share it with your friends.<\/p>\n
Facebook giveaways aren’t automatically fake. Big brands run real promotions all the time because they want attention. They want people talking. That’s normal.<\/p>\n
The problem starts when scammers copy that idea. They steal company logos. They create pages that look almost identical to the real one. Then they promise expensive prizes that don’t match the size of the business at all.<\/p>\n
A real giveaway usually has rules. It also explains when the winner will be picked and how they’ll be contacted. A fake one rushes you. It pushes you toward a strange website or asks for personal details before you’ve even “won” anything.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Brand new pages with almost no history.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Weird spelling or blurry logos.<\/p>\n
\u2022 If they ask for payment to claim a prize, walk away. Winning doesn’t come with an entry fee.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Comments turned off. Sometimes scammers don’t want people warning everyone else.<\/p>\n
Scammers know that free stuff grabs attention. They don’t need everyone to believe them. Just enough people.<\/p>\n
A few seconds later they’re typing in an email address or a phone number they never meant to share.<\/p>\n
Raj entered a giveaway for a gaming console while waiting for his train one evening. Later he noticed the page had only a handful of followers and every comment looked copied. He laughed, closed the tab, and went back to reading cricket scores on his phone.<\/p>\n
Before joining any giveaway, visit the company’s official Facebook page instead of the one in your feed. See if the same contest appears there. If it doesn’t, there’s a good chance someone is pretending to be that brand.<\/p>\n
And never hand over passwords or banking details because someone claims you’ve won. Real companies don’t need that to announce a winner. They definitely don’t ask you to pay first.<\/p>\n
