Move before the trail goes cold<\/h2>\n

Start by saving everything you still have. Screenshots matter. So do payment receipts and chat messages. If the profile changes later, you’ll still have proof of what happened.<\/p>\n

Then contact your bank or the payment service you used. Do it today. Some payments can be challenged if you act quickly. Waiting because you’re hoping the scammer suddenly becomes honest is usually a bad bet. They won’t.<\/p>\n

Keep the evidence simple<\/h3>\n

\u2022 Screenshots of the conversation, especially where the deal changed halfway through because that detail often gets forgotten later<\/p>\n

\u2022 Your payment record. It tells a cleaner story than trying to remember every message a week from now.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If the profile had photos of the product, save those too, even if they looked completely ordinary at first.<\/p>\n

Report it, even if it feels pointless<\/h2>\n

Report the account through Instagram. Report the payment if your payment app has that option. If money was stolen, file a report with your local police or the cybercrime authority in your country. People skip this because they assume nothing happens. I think that’s a mistake. Reports build patterns, and patterns are how repeat scammers get noticed.<\/p>\n

Don’t fall for the recovery scam<\/h2>\n

This catches more people than you’d think. Someone suddenly messages you and says they can get your money back for a fee. Or they claim they know a hacker who fixes these problems overnight. Ignore it. Once you’ve been scammed, you’re often seen as an easier target.<\/p>\n
