You know the posts. Someone says you’ve won a brand new phone. Or maybe it’s a gift card with a big dollar amount. All you have to do is comment, share the post, or click a link. It feels easy. That’s the whole point.<\/p>\n

A Facebook giveaway scam is a fake contest built to get something from you. Sometimes it’s your personal details. Sometimes it’s your login. And sometimes they just want to spread the post until it reaches thousands of people before Facebook takes it down.<\/p>\n

Why These Scams Keep Working<\/h2>\n

Here’s the thing. Most of them don’t look terrible anymore. Scammers copy real company logos. They steal photos from actual businesses. They even write posts that sound close enough to the real thing, especially if you’re scrolling fast after work and not reading every word.<\/p>\n

The Little Clues People Miss<\/h3>\n

You usually don’t need detective skills. Just slow down for a few seconds.<\/p>\n

\u2022 The page was created recently, and somehow it’s already “giving away” hundreds of expensive prizes.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Strange spelling or awkward wording. It doesn’t always jump out until you read the post twice.<\/p>\n

\u2022 A link that sends you somewhere completely different, which always makes me close the tab.<\/p>\n

\u2022 They ask for payment to “release” your prize. A real prize doesn’t suddenly come with a fee.<\/p>\n

What Happens After You Click<\/h2>\n

Sometimes the fake page asks you to log into Facebook again. If you do, your password goes straight to the scammer.
