Yet a club generally reaches the Club World Cup by succeeding in the UEFA Champions League rather than simply finishing first in England. The same logic applies in Spain. Or Brazil. Or Japan. The path runs through continental competition.<\/p>\n
FIFA expanded the Club World Cup, which means more clubs now qualify. That opened the door for additional teams based on performance across several seasons rather than a single campaign.<\/p>\n
Honestly, I think that’s a better system. One great season is impressive. Sustained success tells you more about how strong a club really is.<\/p>\n
Because of that change, some leagues can have multiple representatives in the same tournament. Europe especially benefits, since several elite clubs consistently reach the latter stages of continental play.<\/p>\n
