How Firefox Handles Ads

Firefox uses Enhanced Tracking Protection to stop known trackers from following you around the web. Open a site and Firefox checks for things that are known to collect browsing data. When something gets blocked, the page often loads with fewer tracking scripts running behind the scenes.

Start With Strict Protection

Open Firefox settings and look for Privacy & Security. You’ll see Enhanced Tracking Protection there. Standard protection is the default, but switching to Strict gives you a stronger setup.

• Strict mode is the easy starting point, especially if you don’t want to install anything yet.

• Some sites may behave oddly after stronger blocking is enabled, so don’t be surprised if one page suddenly asks you to change your settings.

• Tracking protection runs quietly in the background, which is honestly how privacy tools should work.

Why Ad Blocking Feels Faster

A blocked ad doesn’t need to finish loading. Neither does a tracking script that never gets a chance to run. On pages packed with advertising, that can make scrolling feel smoother because the browser has less junk to deal with.

And there is another benefit people notice later. You stop seeing the same product follow you from one website to another. Once you notice that, normal browsing starts to feel a little strange without protection.
